Display Screen Equipment Legislation
Since the introduction of the Health and Safety (DSE) Regulations 1992, eye care for Visual Display Unit (VDU) users is required to be provided by employers in accordance with regulation 5 of the DSE Regulations. For information on the regulations, go to www.legislation.hmso.gov.uk.
Direct Eyecare Onsite Service
Direct Eyecare offer a simple, hassle free, solution to manage VDU eye care. We
can test your employees in the workplace. Each employee will only be required to
leave their work station for a maximum 30 minutes. (This allows for the eye
exam, administration and any dispensing that may be required).
The Benefits of our Service
We ensure that our clients not only comply with the law but also gain real
benefit from the assessments. We do not regard VDU assessments as simply a 'tick
box' exercise but as an opportunity to:
- improve productivity and quality
- reduce sickness
- cut compensation claims
- improve customer service.
Minimal time off work required by staff.
All the required paperwork is completed by our Opticians onsite.
The onsite set up is identical to a high street practice, where patients are dispensed with a VDU prescription.
Option of private dispensing is also available for employees. With designer frames at a fraction of high street prices.
The PD (pupillary distance - a critical measurement to purchase glasses) is supplied (upon request) to employees who wish to purchase their glasses online.
Competitive prices
Advice is available on employees work stations / environment in relation to their vision. e.g. lighting, VDU screen position etc.
